Who said that summers are supposed to be lazy? Last weekend, I had the opportunity to don my event coordinator hat and plan my church’s annual church picnic. The congregation voted on Shepherd’s Park in Oak Park and what a great choice! We had a nice time. It was a little rough for my husband and I at the beginning with the picking of the site, getting everything set up, all while taking care of the little one, but all in all it turned out to be a great day.
Even though the shelters were already booked, the trees made the park area tolerable and the children enjoyed the going to the play areas. The food and fellowship was great, but it was the entertainment took the cake.
We employed Face Painting by Chantel to provide some excitement for the kids and the kids at heart. Chantel Christ provides face painting at parties, picnics and family reunions. Chantel didn’t just do some small face painting on the face, she provided transformations. With a quick flip of the wrist with the help of paint, glitter and a brush, she turned children into animals, rainbows and action heroes.
Although she was only able to stay an hour and a half, her prices were reasonable and she made the day a little brighter and colorful. Even my daughter, who at the tender age of one refuses to sit still for longer than 10 seconds at a time, got a small rainbow above the eye complete with glitter.
